Title : Can Kuwait Gain any Economic and Environmental Benefits by Adopting Renewable Energy?
Muhammad Aloughani, Wamadeva Balachandran, Nadarajah Manivannan,

Abstract : This paper examines the potential economic and environmental benefits for Kuwait in adopting renewable energy sources, specifically through the implementation of the Al-Shagaya Innovative Renewable Energy Research program (IRER) sponsored by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). With rising demand for electricity consumption and increasing concerns about the negative environmental impact of fossil fuels, policymakers in Kuwait have turned to renewable energy sources as a solution. The Al-Shagaya project includes the implementation of multi-technology renewable energy sources, and this paper evaluates whether it will add any economic or environmental benefit to Kuwait. Additionally, the paper presents an alternative scenario, a linear-change over scheme, which could increase the capability of the Al-Shagaya project by 92% of the economic benefit. By analysing the potential benefits of renewable energy in Kuwait, this paper contributes to the ongoing discussions about sustainable energy and environmental policies.
