Abstract :
The demand for athletic footwear has increased significantly, especially in countries like India, and this expansion has been driven by rising per capita income. Addressing the changing nature of the athletic footwear business, this study analyses the design preferences of amateur athletes in the Delhi/NCR area. To meet the changing needs and preferences of athletes, it is essential to comprehend the delicate balance that must be struck between performance, comfort, and design. The increasing popularity of collaborative design methodologies reflects the changing desires of consumers towards customization. The goal of the study is to simplify the complex design of next-generation athletic shoes by highlighting crucial components that appeal to amateur athletes. The research used a questionnaire-based methodology with a focused sample size of 150 people to meet the research objectives. With SPSS, statistical studies were carried out, including hypothesis testing, reliability testing, correlation testing, and multiple iterations. The objective is to improve this demographic's overall performance and satisfaction by designing athletic shoes according to their preferences. This study aims to close the gap between objective characteristics and subjective preferences in sports footwear through a study of design aesthetics and its psychological impact.
